Karel Tannich, Hynek Gross, Vladimír Hašek, group photo When he finished at Vienna university and the Institute für Österreichische Geschichtsforschung he worked for short period of time in two large archives. He graduated as a professor of philosophy in 1907. In 1910 he came to the Central archive of Schwarzenberg in Český Krumlov and directed it in the 1930\'s and 40\'s. From 1923 to 1945 he worked as a district preserver of the National Trust in Český Krumlov, and from 1919 to 1921 and from 1922 to 1926 he served as the Mayor of Český Krumlov. On 16 October 1946 he was evacuated to Germany where he worked as an archivist for some time - now an urn with his ashes is in Stockholm where Tannich´s daughter lived. Karl Tannich very carefully equipped the castle library in Český Krumlov where the library still is up to the present. He wrote many wide-ranging papers of Český Krumlov (for instance on the town fortifications, the chapel on Křížová Hill, the Saint Vitus church). He lived as the archivist at Castle No. 59 - Little Castle.
