Schwarzenberg Economic Institute in Český Krumlov
The Schwarzenberg Economic Institute in Český Krumlov was established in 1800 as a three year selective college for talented sons of the Schwarzenbergs´ officers. Its founder was Josef zu Schwarzenberg. The school building was situated at the II castle courtyard (see Castle No. 59 - New Burgrave´s House). This school gave its future officers comprehensive specialised education in the subjects of German, religion, natural sciences, mathematics, geometry, physics, chemistry, and in practice subjects - business letters, veterinary science, civil engineering, brewing or horse riding. Study, board and lodging were fully paid to all future officers by the lordship. The Schwarzenberg Economic Institute in Český Krumlov was closed down in 1850.
