Domenico Benedetto Cometta of Eckthurn
(died around 1620) | Renaissance architect and builder |
Came to Bohemia from his native homeland of Italy, working at the beginning as an assistant of his brother-in-law the Rosenberg builder Baldassar Maggi d\'Arogno. As an architect he worked in the service of Peter Wok von Rosenberg. This wealthy native Italian citizen of the town of České Budějovice conducted, on Petr Vok´s command, a construction of the Budějovická Gate, St. Jošt Church, a town brewery in Široká No. 71 and an armoury in Český Krumlov.
At the beginning of the 17th century he also worked in Třeboň where he realised the Renaissance reconstruction of the castle. His brother, the stone-cutter Antonio Cometta, also worked there in the South of Bohemia.
