Alois Jirásek

(1851 - 1930) Writer

He visited Český Krumlov and its surroundings twice while collecting material for his historical novels. The first visit was in 1876 (Český Krumlov) and the second in 1887 (Vyšší Brod, Rožmberk, Český Krumlov, Zlatá Koruna - Jirásek used information from this journey in his novel called "Between the Streams", namely in the parts talking about the fights of marauders against the Rosenbergs). Both his journeys are described in a book called "From My Memories", part two (1913). A tale about Perchta von Rosenberg - the White Lady - is one of the tales in "The Old Czech Tales" (1894).
