      Bedřich Smetana

      (1824 - 1884) Opera composer

      Bedřich Smetana, graphic

Bedřich Smetana adapted a libretto by Eliška Krásnohorská to his opera called "Devil´s Wall" (Čertova stěna). He was inspired by the beauty and past of this natural formation. His famous work entitled "The Vltava" (otherwise known as "The Moldau") reflects the symphonic beauty of the river that flows through the region and is actually a part of a larger cycle entlitled "My Country".
