Works of František Jakub Prokyš

The painter František Jakub Prokyš left extensive works in Český Krumlov. The sponsors of his works were mainly Joseph Adam zu Schwarzenberg and the Krumlov church dignitaries. We thus find his works in rooms of the Český Krumlov Castle as well as in the interiors of churches in Český Krumlov and its environs.

The Baroque-Rococo illusory expression of the paintings of František Jakub Prokyš is the characteristic artistic feature of the following places:

  • The Four Seasons Allegory in the Musical Pavillion the chateau gardens in Český Krumlov, 1752.
  • The decoration of the hall and cabinet of Princess Marie Terezie at Kvítkův Dvůr, 1757
  • Prokyšův Hall of the Prelatura (Horní No. 155) in Český Krumlov, 1769
  • The death chapel of resurrection of the St. Vitus Church in Český Krumlov, 1777
  • Altar paintings of the conversion of St. Paul and the Blessed Virgin Mary's birth, 1773, St. Vitus Church in Český Krumlov.
